i encounter this quite alot.. and everytime they ask i get nervous...scared of answering wrongly or not being able to give them an answer... talked to my mom today about it and she brought some things into light.. i hope this helps you all..
sometimes when people ask us questions, it is really hard to answer because Christianity is based on FAITH. but for people who do not believe in God, this doesnt make any sense to them.
ever encountered a time when people say that everything we attribute to God can be actually explained by science? take the rainbow for instance. To us christians, it is a symbol of God's promise to us that he will never flood the whole earth ever again. Science has explained that the rainbow is because of the splitting of light particles due to contact with water vapor..and non-Christians tell us that it is science tt makes it work tt way. the same thing about how plants grow. Have u ever thought about who made all this work they way they do? why dont plants grow downwards and not upwards? why doesnt the rainbow arch the other way?
when they start asking you question after question and you start getting tired of answering or when you feel that it is not getting anywhere, just tell them that you have had enough and you should stop there. If they do not believe, then no matter how you answer their qns, they will still not believe.
my mom told me this: in order for a plant to grow, you have to plant the seed and the seed has to die first then it can grow. in the same way, in order for Jesus to be resurrected, he had to die first before resurrection could take place. so we have to die to our worldly thinking first before we can see the truth. If you do not believe, you wont see how all this are true. because we believe, tts why it is easy for us to see how everything in the bible happened.
it is not because we cant answer their questions. God has an answer to all our questions an dour doubts. But if we do not believe, no matter how many of our questions are answered, we will still be unable to see how things happened.
with the da vinci code shaking the earth now, many of us christians are going to face much questioning from the non-christians. Despite the author himself claiming that the book is fiction, many still choose to believe in it rather than the bible. Why? what makes it so easy for them to believe the da vinci code rather than the bible?
sometimes, we really cant handle such things on our own. we really need to pray....
but be comforted.. for in times like these, the Lord is with us.
